In 2009 Sunsail were delighted to announce that they had won the prestigious Practical Boat Owner Green Award for Service. The awards aim to recognise marine businesses and individuals who have taken steps to make the leisure boat industry more sustainable and environmentally friendly. 

 
The winners were selected by the editorial staff of PBO who were impressed with the standard of entry into this years competition.  'It's been a fantastic first Green Awards for PBO. Congratulations to the winners and everyone who entered the inaugural competition,' said PBO editor Sarah Norbury. 'Our readers are genuinely passionate about raising environmental awareness and with the PBO green awards we hope to celebrate companies, organisations and individuals taking action to make the sport and the industry more sustainable and eco-friendly.'
 
Sunsail won the Green Award for Service due to its charter base in Tortola, British Virgin Islands which was built with the environment and customer experience at the heart of its design.

Sunsail were extremely pleased to ne named as finalists in the 2010 Green Business Awards, further proving its commitment to Sustainability and Responsible Tourism. 
 
The Green Business Awards offer large corporations, SMEs and smaller companies the opportunity to showcase their green initiatives as best practice examples. The awards are an essential barometer of business performance on environment, climate change and sustainability, and they advocate that by making it to the short-list, Sunsail are among the best "green" organisations in the UK. 
 
Sunsail’s Chief Operations Officer Cheryl Powell remarked that “to be the only holiday company recognised at the prestigious Green Business Awards is a real achievement for Sunsail. Year on year we are gaining recognition for our efforts, including LEED Certification at our US office, a Practical Boat Owner Green Award for the development of our BVI base and now, runner up at the Green Business Awards for Land, Water and Ecology. Green thinking goes in to every aspect of our business and we hope that our customers are as excited as we are about the progress that we’re making.”
 
Other organisations that made it to the finals of the Green Business Awards included M&S, Coca-Cola, B&Q, BBC Worldwide and Samsung.
