The old town of Foça with its cobblestone pathways and turquoise shores are only a 20 min stroll or 10 min bike ride away. Quaint shops line the main street, which leads to the scenic harbour and presents a variety of fantastic restaurants and tavernas where you can expect to be offered some delicious local fish recipes. This town is also famous for Mediterranean monk seals, which have made their home here since ancient times. Indeed, the name ‘Foça’ is derived from the ancient ‘Phokaia’, which means “town of seals”.

Izmir

Further afield is Izmir is the largest city on the Aegean coast and just over 45 mins away by car or public transport. A magnificent city, steeped in history and culture, this is a great centre for shopping perfect for hunting out that souvenir.

Ephesus

The classical city of Ephesus is also just over an hour and a half away, and is considered one of the most impressive sights of the ancient world. Stroll around the ruins that have shaped this town’s famous history.
