A Vounaki flotilla holiday, in Greece’s southern Ionian Sea, is an ideal choice for everybody.

Families with children, couples, or a skipper with a less experienced crew can enjoy the easy sailing, while the stunning scenery within this sailing area can be enjoyed by all, whatever your level of experience. Mainly line-of-sight sailing in protected waters makes for the ultimate in relaxing flotilla sailing.

With a huge variety of picturesque anchorages such as Abelike Bay to choose from and Cephalonia, location of Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, to visit, flotilla sailing here has plenty to offer.

Sailing in Vounaki

A one-week Vounaki Base flotilla holiday is suitable for sailors with minimal previous sailing experience and for those still honing their skills. As a cruising ground, the gentle waters of the southern Ionian Sea are a perfect choice for those looking for a no-stress sailing holiday.

From April to November, winds are generally north-westerly, ranging from 10 to 15 knots (11 - 17 mph), with calms in the morning and temperatures ranging from 23 – 33 C (74 - 90 F). Tides are minimal and you don't need to worry about strong currents.

A Vounaki Base sailing flotilla offers some of the best and easiest cruising in Greece. The scenic islands are hilly and wooded, with beautiful beaches, secluded coves and picturesque towns and villages.

  • Abelike Bay Meganissi

    Abelike Bay brings you to one off the most idyllic stop-overs on your Meganissi boat charter. Abelike Bay lies between Vathi and Port Atheni and the secluded cove is a perfect place to spend a lazy day swimming, snorkelling and generally taking life very easy.

  • Levkas Town

    Levkas Town is about as busy as it gets in these parts and a visit here will satisfy those members of your crew anxious for a little retail therapy. Aside from the shopping and a decent range of bars and restaurants, a Levkas Town boat charter allows you to explore the 13th century Santa Maura fort and perhaps take in some of the cultural events that take place here in high season.

  • Parga

    Parga on the mainland coast north of Levkas is known for its Venetian castle dating from the 14th century when it was an important location in terms of the protection of the Venetians’ trade routes. A Parga boat charter allows you to visit the two bays either side of the village where there are good beaches and some watersports facilities.

    The memory of your visit to the village of Spartahori is one that will stay with you long after you have returned home from your Meganissi yacht charter. Moor by the beach and climb up the hill to a village that looks as if it hasn’t changed in a hundred years. Eat either in the village or at one of the tavernas by the beach – the food is excellent in both.
