All year round Sunsail gives you the chance to join in on longer, more challenging passages known as ‘MileCatchers’ in popular destinations. Covering more mileage than most would tend to on a traditional yachting holiday, they are the perfect way to increase sea miles towards RYA qualifications and build confidence on board.

Our MileCatchers are often available with an Instructional Skipper on board which means you can work to the RYA syllabus throughout the journey. However if you just want to get on board for the experience, book an individual place and get some serious sea miles under your belt! Student to instructor ratio is 5:1 on all RYA courses except Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster which are 4:1. Sunsail courses are more social with a 6:1 ratio.

NEW for 2008 - UK Mile Catchers

PORT SOLENT (sailing across the English Channel to France)

  • 1st Friday in every month
  • Duration - 4 days
  • Accommodation - twin shared cabins. (max of 6 guests plus skipper)
  • Meals - inclusive of all breakfasts and lunches and evening meals at sea.
  • Experience required - More than 10 days sailing
  • In the event of poor conditions for sailing across the English Channel to France, the prgoramme will run across the South Coast.
  • Price: Low - £199 Mid - £249 High - £299

LARGS (sailing across the Irish Seas to Ireland)

  • 2nd Friday in every month
  • Duration - 4 days
  • Accommodation - twin shared cabins. (max of 6 guests plus skipper)
  • Meals - inclusive of all breakfasts and lunches and evening meals at sea.
  • Experience required - More than 10 days sailing
  • In the event of poor conditions for sailing across the Irish Seas, the prgoramme will run across the Scottish Coast or in the Clyde.
  • Price: Low - £199 Mid - £249 High - £299

CANARIES
Tuitional Milecatcher
  • Year round
  • Departs the last week of every month. (Start and finish at same marina)
  • Duration - 7 days
  • Accommodation - twin shared cabins. (max of 5 guests plus skipper)
  • Meals - inclusive of all breakfasts and lunches and evening meals at sea.
  • Experience required - RYA Day Skipper or equivalent.
  • MileCatcher - Covering approx. 300nm in tidal waters including two overnight sails. On occasions you will be sailing more than 12nm off shore.
  • Price £399 excluding flights

THE WHITSUNDAYS, AUSTRALIA
Tuitional Milecatcher

  • May to November 07
  • Departs various dates throughout the season - contact the team for more details. (Start and finish at different marinas)
  • Duration - 10 days
  • Accommodation - Depending on number of crew, twin share may be necessary. (max of 4 guests plus 2 crew)
  • Meals - All meals are included
  • Experience required - minimum of RYA Competent Crew or equivalent
  • MileCatcher - Covering approx. 395 to 500nm plus a number of night sails (dependent on MileCatcher route)
  • Price: £715 - £1220pp depending upon MileCatcher chosen. Prices are flight exclusive
