Starting out…

Sailing is fun, affordable and more accessible than ever before with Sunsail. We offer many different ways for you to get started as an individual, with friends or family, or even your work colleagues.

When you first start out, your RYA qualified skipper will show you everything you need to know about safety and comfort on board to navigation and wind direction. They will be attentive to you at all times and make sure you’re feeling at ease.

What to expect
Our fully qualified RYA instructors are all carefully selected for their expertise and enthusiasm. At all levels of our highly acclaimed teaching programme, your instructor will help you to build confidence on and off the water. Beginners are encouraged and eased gently into sailing, intermediates play with and build upon on their strengths and advanced sailors have as much adventure in store as they can handle.

What you’ll experience
A sailing course with Sunsail is such fun many students tell us they feel like they’re on holiday. Having such a great time, you hardly realise you’re learning or improving your skills. And now with so many tempting schools locations, more and more people are choosing to combine their Sunsail yachting course with holiday time in a fantastic destination. But regardless of whether you sail the Solent or the Whitsundays – the experience is the same, all over the world. Your enjoyment and safety are paramount.

It’s childs play!
Don't forget that children over 16 yrs can join you on any of our courses if accompanied by an adult. Or, for the younger ones, children over 8ys can join you on any of our family courses. Plus, remember your a 20% discount for children all aged 12 and under!

Sunsail Flotillas
A Competent Crew certificate is all you need to join any of our Easy Flotillas in the Ionian, Greece or Turkey. You can also hop on board once you have successfully completed the Sunsail Two Day Yacht Refresher course in the UK or Sunsail’s Flotilla Training course at any of our Sunsail Clubs.

Create your own course
For groups of three or more we are happy to run a course especially for you on any date you want, subject to availability.

Anything is possible! Why not organise a Comp Crew or Day Skipper on different dates? We can run the 5 day course from Friday to Wednesday. Or why not get some Race Training under your belt? How about getting friends together and completing the RYA Start Yachting 3 day ‘add-on’ to gain your Comp Crew? Just call the team to find out how to create a tailored course.
