The Windward Islands have a wet and a dry season. During the dry season (February to June) there are weeks of clear sunny weather, broken only occasionally by a shower. The wet season (July until January) still provides a lot of sunshine, but also more frequent showers with occasional rainy days. The temperature seldom varies from 25°C to 30°C (78°F to 85°F).

Martinique has its own word for trade winds – ‘les alizés’ - and these are nearly always from the SE to NE, at 10 to 25 knots. Calms are rare. During the Winter months, storms out in the North Atlantic may produce swells that reach the Windwards and could make anchorages to the north or west slightly uncomfortable.
