Pula

Discover the Istrian Coast From Sunsail’s New Yacht Charter Base in Pula

The Istrian peninsula, situated in the westernmost part of Croatia, is the primary tourist region of Croatia. Its unique qualities are the result of its location - sitting where the Mediterranean Sea enters deepest into the European mainland, and being isolated from the bulk of Croatia by the Učka massif.  This stunning cruising area offers the best of everything Croatian, combining bustling towns with a fascinating cultural heritage with deserted islands and beautiful bays.

Located on the Istrian Peninsula, which borders Slovenia and is close to Italy, the city of Pula is packed with museums and steeped in history, with traces of Byzantine, Venetian and Austrian cultures still evident in the city today.   Pula is also home to one of the world's largest Roman amphitheaters, the Pula Arena.

Heading out from Pula, the cruising opportunities are vast with numerous anchorages off islands to the east, such as Cres, Losinj, Krk, Rab and Silba – all very different and very beautiful.  On a two week charter from Pula, sailors may choose to head further afield by cruising south to the spectacular and serene Kornati National Park or even on to the popular islands of Hvar and Korcula.

Sunsail’s charter base at Pula offers a range of sailing yachts from 39 to 47 foot, including the superb new Sunsail 44i by Jeanneau.  The Sunsail base is just 15 minutes drive from Pula airport within Marina Veruda, a modern facility with a number of bars and restaurants, showers and a supermarket – rated the most popular marina in North Croatia.

Yachting is Croatia's trademark throughout the world. With its numerous fully equipped marinas, and hundreds of harbours, natural coves and bays on the islands and along the coast, the Croatian Adriatic coast is a must for all yachting aficionados. The solitary and uninhabited places and islets, and the beauty and serenity of virgin nature, are a true paradise for yachting visitors.

The coast and islands of Croatia are a yachtsman’s paradise with plenty of good marinas and harbours as convenient intervals throughout the cruising area. Known as the ‘Coast of a Thousand Islands’, the Dalmatian coast of Croatia is a charterer’s delight, with not only beautiful scenery around every corner, but stunning Venetian architecture in most of the island and mainland towns.
