Tropea is located on the toe of Italy and offers access to the volcanic Aeolian Islands. Palermo is based on the north coast of Sicily and while the Aeolian Islands can still be reached to the north west, most people travel north west towards Ustica and then onto the Aegadian Islands to the west of Sicily.
Both bases are positioned perfectly to allow you to explore the best that this beautiful country has to offer. You can visit Roman ruins, stare in awe at Renaissance art, relax on stunning beaches and choose to dine in a variety of delightful restaurants.
Another unique and awe-inspiring attraction to sailing from our bases in Tropea and Palermo is the fantastic views of some of Europe’s greatest volcanoes. Travel from our base at Tropea to Stromboli, the biggest active volcano around. See the smoke of the peak joining the steam that rises from the water and visit the blackest beaches of all the Aeolian Islands.
For a day of relaxing and tranquility spend a day at the beautiful island of Vulcano, famous for its bath in the warm waters of the submarine springs.
The climate here is Mediterranean, with hot dry summers and mild wet winters. The sheer height of some of the largest volcanoes and mountains cause a sharp difference in climate. On the coast the average temperature is around 19˚C, which is likely to drop to around 13˚C inland.
