Sheltered by the magnificent Great Barrier Reef, the Whitsundays offer smooth seas for spectacular sailing all year round. With line of sight navigation, the islands are ideal for novices and experienced sailors alike. Wind direction from March to September is generally southeast to east trade winds, while October through February brings more northeasterly winds.

The best sailing is in the deep waters of the Inner Channel and Victoria Channel. Trade winds are usually fairly consistent out of an easterly direction. Tidal range is minimal, being about 18" at springs.
