SW Monsoon - May to October
NE Monsoon - November to April

During the Sunsail sailing season of May through to October, the winds are from the SW-W and are generally light to moderate, with calm seas and mainly sunshine. This is the dry season in the Gulf of Thailand with ideal sailing conditions and only occasional rain showers.

Tidal range is 1 to 2 metres. The tide floods towards the south and ebbs towards the north. In several places the tide flows in roughly the same direction whether ebbing or flowing. During spring tidal streams around headlands and in narrow channels can reach over 2 knots.
