BRIEFINGS
The personalised chart briefing given on your arrival describes the cruising area and any potential hazards.
The yacht briefing introduces you to your yacht, it’s systems and rigging. It is carried out individually for each yacht. It is important that all systems and equipment are fully understood. Briefings are mandatory.

SAFETY
All yachts are equipped with life jackets and a harness for everyone on board. We leave it up to you to decide when personal safety equipment should be worn.
We suggest that children who are not strong swimmers should not be allowed in a dinghy without a life jacket or buoyancy aid and that they should wear a buoyancy aid or harness when on deck.
Illness or injury
Contact a member of Sunsail staff as soon as possible at the Sunsail base.
If you need to make a claim for curtailment due to illness, ask the base manager for assistance and contact your insurer’s emergency medical service immediately.
Your insurance company will assist with travel arrangements, advice and payment of bills.
Obtain receipts for any medication, treatment or transport you have to pay for and submit with your claim.

PROVISIONING
You are welcome to bring your provisions with you or there is a local supermarket 5 mins drive from the base.

BOARDING/DEPARTURE
You will be able to collect or join your yacht during the reception times listed above. Only the skipper can collect the yacht unless otherwise arranged in advance with the sales team.
In the interest of security, the yachts are locked. If you arrive outside the times listed below, without advising Sunsail, you will not be able to gain access to the yacht.

EQUIPMENT ON THE YACHTS
Sunsail yachts are equipped with just about everything you will need for a safe and enjoyable holiday.
You will be given a checklist on arrival to make sure you have all the items listed on the inventory.
Please inform the base manager before you leave the base if anything is missing as it is not always possible to replace or exchange items once you have departed on your cruise.
Any problems with your yacht must be reported to the base staff immediately. If not we cannot be held responsible.

PLEASE NOTE we do not provide bedding or towels on our UK charters so you will need to bring sleeping bags, pillows and towels with you.
Wet weather gear is available to hire from us at £6 per day, per person and can be booked in advance or hired on arrival (children, under 13 years, must provide their own wet weather gear and life jackets.) For hygiene reasons, we do not hire out sailing footwear.

THE MARINA
Facilities adjacent to the base include:
Showers/toilets
Restaurants
Bars
Launderette
Shops
Chandlery

WHAT TO BRING
Please note that all personal items are brought at your own risk. We suggest you pack the following:
Fleece top, gloves, hat, scarf, thick socks, comfortable trousers or tracksuit, deck shoes/sailing boots or white-soled trainers. We do not recommend jeans as they take a long time to dry. It is much warmer to wear multiple thin layers than one thick layer.
Hopefully you will have good weather and if you do get sunshine we advise you have a hat, sunglasses, sun cream, shorts and t-shirts.

MOORING FEES
Marina fees are payable by the charterer.

EATING OUT
There are numerous restaurants and bars to choose from in the marina and various restaurants all through the Firth of Clyde

CHARTS AND PILOT BOOK
All the charts and pilot books you will need for the sailing area are on board the yacht. Charts and pilot books can be purchased in advance from www.imray.com or www.kelvinhughes.com

WEATHER
Tidal range of approx. 3.5 metres.
Sheltered by nearby islands.

HOW TO FIND LARGS YACHT HAVEN

By Car
From Glasgow Airport on the M8 follow the signs for Greenock. Continue until you come to Port Glasgow which continues into Greenock and then follow the signs for Largs on the A78. You will go through Inverkip, Wemyss Bay and Skelmorlie and then into Largs.

Continue straight through Largs passing through the Safeways roundabout until you come to the traffic lights at the top of the hill (Haylie Brae). Continue through - marina is on the right at the bottom of the hill. Follow the signs for the visitor car park and you will see the Sunsail flag. The office is round the corner from the flag.

By Train
From Glasgow Central or Paisley Gilmour take the Largs train. This runs hourly. Largs is at the end of the track (turnaround back to Glasgow). Taxis are located at the front of the station and are approx £3 per trip to the marina. It is possible to walk to the marina from the town centre but with a large heavy pack this can seem some distance - approximately 20 minutes walk along the seafront.

On arrival at Largs Yacht Haven
On arrival you should report to the Sunsail office which is situated just around the corner from the Regattas Bar/Restaurant. Parking is free.

PLEASE NOTE
• If you feel that a problem may adversely affect your holiday, you must give our staff the opportunity to resolve it for you. If the problem is not resolved to your satisfaction, please ensure that you inform the base manager and it is essential that you complete a holiday report form.
• Unfortunately, claims made for problems not reported first to the base staff and then to the manager locally, cannot be considered.
TO REITERATE THE HOLIDAY BOOKING CONDITIONS, ANY COMPLAINTS OR CLAIMS MUST BE RECEIVED IN WRITING WITHIN 28 DAYS OF THE END OF YOUR HOLIDAY.
